Discover the Magic of Swan Lake at Dubai Opera
Dubai’s cultural calendar shines once again as the iconic Swan Lake returns to Dubai Opera for four unforgettable nights from 25 to 28 September 2025. In partnership with M Premiere, this world-class production features the Hungarian National Ballet and the Hungarian National Opera Orchestra, delivering a mesmerizing blend of classical elegance and emotional depth.
Following a sold-out run in 2023 that drew over 8,000 ballet lovers, Swan Lake is back to captivate audiences with its timeless story, powerful performances, and Tchaikovsky’s legendary score.
A Timeless Ballet Masterpiece
First performed in 1877, Swan Lake remains the most beloved ballet in history. With iconic choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, this production is enhanced with modern staging by Rudi van Dantzig and Toer van Schayk, adding emotional nuance while preserving classical authenticity.
The dual role of Odette/Odile remains one of ballet’s most demanding and defining performances—showcasing a ballerina’s technical mastery and emotional range as both the innocent Swan Queen and the seductive Black Swan.
The Story of Swan Lake – Act by Act
Act I – A Prince’s Turning Point
Prince Siegfried celebrates his birthday amidst joy and duty. He’s reminded of his royal responsibilities and ventures into the forest seeking clarity.
Act II – The Enchantment of the Lake
By a magical lake, he encounters Odette, a swan maiden cursed by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart. Moved by her grace and purity, Siegfried pledges his eternal love.
Act III – The Mask of Deception
At a royal ball, Siegfried is tricked into declaring love for Odile, Von Rothbart’s daughter disguised as Odette. The deception leads to heartbreak.
Act IV – Redemption and Farewell
Siegfried returns to seek forgiveness. In a tragic yet powerful climax, love conquers evil, even in the face of loss.
