A Historic Performance You Can’t Miss
Witness Lebanese theatre at its finest with Khyel Sahra at Dubai Opera, featuring Georges Khabbaz and Adel Karam—two of Lebanon’s most celebrated performers—sharing the stage for the first time in this compelling social and wartime drama. This gripping theatrical performance offers a poignant reflection on human connection, identity, and memory during times of war.
About the Play – What Is Khyel Sahra?
Derived from Lebanese slang meaning “someone disregarded or marginalized,” Khyel Sahra tells the story of two snipers from opposing sides during a 1976 ceasefire in the Lebanese Civil War. Initially enemies, they become reluctant companions as they meet near the frontline, sharing coffee, memories, and laughter during temporary peace.
Through their interaction, the play explores the absurdity and humanity of war, highlighting the emotional residue left behind long after conflict ends. As the characters transform from wartime enemies to civilian guards, the play sheds light on themes of national identity, psychological trauma, and friendship in unlikely places.
